LISTEN TO THE CHORUS Created/Produced/Directed by Madeleine Co. (Nicole Bazuin, Alexandra Hong, Cheryl Hsu) Written by Nasim Asgari - Toronto, Canada Composed by Cecilia Livingston - Toronto, Canada Performers: Jacoba Barber-Rozema, Joanna Burt, Renée Ashanta Henry, Nasim Asgari The public sphere is saturated and constantly abuzz with opinions on the state of women’s rights and their possible futures. Listen to the Chorus is an immersive video installation which explores the state of women's rights and a collective desire for change. An experimental composition combining poetry and music, Listen to the Chorus was developed from a series of conversations about women's experiences and hopes for the future. The piece seeks to amplify voices of those who identify as women and to present a chorus of resistance that implores the audience to listen. This piece was shown at Toronto’s Nuit Blanche, 2017, each face/mouth projected on four big immersive panels. The summer of 2017 was such a pivotal one for me & this project & collaboration has been one that has always stayed with me, one i was & am honoured to have been a part of.

Poet, Nasim Asgari, takes on turbulent times. For Nasim Asgari, Canada's constant comparisons to our neighbours are 'trumping us back.'

Nasim Asgari returns to Poetic License and performs her untitled poem for a world on red alert while keeping in mind human softness, compassion and love.
